Cow Poop & a Layout

*quite the eye catching title, don't ya think?*

So awhile back we planted a garden, and it grew.

Especially the weeds.

-Notice the gun in the background? My cowboy watching out for bears...you never know :)

We used this pile of...cow poopy to help that process of growing along.

Almost $10 in cow poop. I seriously paid for poop?

Quite fashionable, no?

Today Aven and I were pulling said weeds and he came across a little pile of dirt packed together. He proceeded to dig a hole for it and then said, " Momma I'm gonna plant this cow poop so we can grow a cow poop tree and then have another garden."

Never a dull moment around here folks :) Love it.

And after all that poop talk a little something more pleasant--a layout to share...unless I've shared this before and if so...opps :)

Back in March it was this sweet boy's first time to write his name all by himself. A proud moment for the both of us!

Been busy working a secret project that I can't share quite yet...give me a month or so :)

Later this week--break out your Cracker Jacks! You following me..? No? Oh but you will.. :)

Happy Saturday

My mema Betty. The yard sale queen.

She had me meet her at her house at 630 a.m.
I was there 15 minutes early :)
(Perhaps we have the "thrill of the hunt" in common.)
And we were off to find the bargains.
And we SO did.

Nice to meet you mid-century modern chair that I love: love the color, love the legs and love the price-$10! When the lady selling it said, "Have a seat..it swivels too." I was sold. Load it up.

And you, sweet elusive white rainbow stripe camera that I needed for my polaroid collection, I have found you. And found you for 50 cents. Happy me :)

A few books and game treasures later and we were done. But not without a beauty salon stop first.

You have to know that my mema Betty is NOT a camera lover like I am, but of course I brought it along and had to take some pics of her getting her hair done. I don't have a whole lot of photos of her and these pics are "technically" imperfect: bad lighting, bad angle, etc.
But to me...perfection.
I love that even at her age it is important to her to have her hair done and feel girlie.

We finished our time with a stop at the former Maid Rite and ordered some "crumble burgers".

As we were driving to her house she said, "I haven't had that much fun in a long time. This has been one of my most favorite days. I will always remember this time we had."

And I will too.

And I have those beautiful, perfectly imperfect pictures to remind me.

It was a good day.

Back later this week with more craftiness.

Canvas & more shares :)

Good tuesday morning! How about a little "show-n-tell"?

Meet "Betty".

I started this canvas a few weeks ago on my girls scrapping weekend and finished it up last night. I really like how it came together and it'll go *perfect* in my scrap room!

(My scrap room is quite the dungeon! My sweet scrapping dungeon! But I have to bring all my projects to the light of day! Just imagine this hanging on a wall, ok?!)

I took vintage paper from an old sewing book and stitched them together. Drew the sewing machine on a piece of scrap chipboard and painted it. Chose this color because it is the same color of my first sewing machine given to me by my grandma, Betty :)...who apparently couldn't sew a stitch!

I paper pieced some of my favorite scraps...and sewed on them a bit too. Created the spool of "thread" out of a piece of toliet paper tube! Blinged the needle, which really is "threaded" and there you have it! A one of a kind piece of scrappy art!

This layout was fun--because I was sharing bits and pieces of me I thought using of bits and pieces of scraps lying around was perfect!

Piece of a scanned old bingo card, lots of sewing and butterflies, heart punched from vintage text book page...

and a flower made from an old sewing pattern.

The journaling reads:Married to my high school sweetheart 10 years this October, 2 precious & healthy active boys, being able to be a stay at home momma, crafting and creating with a hobby I love, thrift store shopping, born again believer, sweet & caring friends-yes, life is good.

Our family is definitely "outdoorsy"! Lots of layers and textures to replicate that "fall" feeling.

I tore the front off a 12x12 piece of cardboard and painted 2 different colors then sprayed on some ink. Sewed a bit of vintage ribbon, added a vintage button and pop dotted some pieces of Sassafrass Lass and Cosmo Cricket. A perfect background for a pumpkin picking picture :)

And you would think I'm done, but not yet :)

Posted this yesterday, but just wanted to add what I did: Cut the "sun" and sewed it down. And then EMBELLISH!! Lots of hues of yellow because IT'S SUMMER! Yeah! Buttons, brads, brads in buttons, paper punched, buttons...you get the idea :)

Freehand sewed the "hello"--that was tricky, but FUN! Used my Slice to cut the "summer" from patterned paper, used cardboard to really help the rays "pop" and sewed some orangey yellow beads to a few of them. Glimmer misted a bit of the layout...it a subtle sparkly "pineapple" color--doesn't show up well in photos, but adds a cool, sunshiney sheen :)

So that's one picture heavy post :)

And now a sneak of some scrappiness I'm playing with:

Believe it or not I have even MORE things to share..but nobody wants to be that kid that takes FOREVER with his "show-n-tell" time :)
Thanks for my 5 minutes-
Maybe I'll share more tomorrow :)

You say Trash. I say Treasure :)

To the gods of thrifting...

thank you.

You made this day fun, even with a little guy who had been up since 5a.m.

Thank you for the glassware I usually overlook. One blue dish will hold scrap embellies and I think the other will make a nice jewerly dish. Who would sell a quilt block for $1? Whoever you are, THANK you too.

And the thermos-perfect for Aven's camping themed room-$1.50.

And the cups. My favorite color is orange. And I love woodgrain. And they were $1. Enough said.

And then the games. You sweet booth full of old games! At 20% off!

Lots of bingo cards and old wooden dominos. Thank you booth, no, thank you...

Cliff Thomspon :)

(I am wondering how much of a kick our neighbor got out of watching me haul this stuff into the house, then back outside for a photo session!, and then back inside the house...? Give 'em something to talk about.)

Ahhh....it's been  a fun day...

Shares

Some more shares today.
ready.
go!

A summery banner using My Sweet Cherry Pie:

Loved stitching the house on this layout. Aven took the picture. He's getting quite good with the SLR:

Another embroidery hoop design. I can't get enough of these...or dimensional butterflies!:

This layout looked summery to me. I am loving the messiness of paint/ink lately. I am also really loving these papers by Pebbles. Really. And then there's this SMILE:

I believe that is enough shares for one post! Hope to do a wee bit of thrifting sometime this week. Maybe I'll be back with some finds :)
