<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitbQ_3-rYA8rWG6pdD8tI2nmcR9yLd21Kjux9nwi6ewav1VR0R-2bSkcc3oRXsAxXYELO2Nf2OgOYi1Kbmh2jZeRRR-zl7VFMb24CEku5VnLjs3Eq8XZbf5o7ke4UtKRKOA-3pOKxti0U/s1600/pic5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitbQ_3-rYA8rWG6pdD8tI2nmcR9yLd21Kjux9nwi6ewav1VR0R-2bSkcc3oRXsAxXYELO2Nf2OgOYi1Kbmh2jZeRRR-zl7VFMb24CEku5VnLjs3Eq8XZbf5o7ke4UtKRKOA-3pOKxti0U/s1600/pic5.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
I love packaging up gifts, maybe even more than the gift itself. My favorite is to get all festive in my gift giving for those that care about the presentation. Am I doing this for my six year old son? Umm...no. Sorry, dude. For a good friend? You betcha. The problem for me is my ideas are big and my time is itty bitty. I mean, I'm good to remember the gift in the first place and then I want it wrapped all cute? Forget about it.<br />
But then, maybe don't.<br />
My master plan is this: do all the things you can in advance. That includes making cute gift tags with supplies that you might already have on hand. It's easy to do assembly line gift tag making and it's bonus points if you don't have to buy a lot extra to do it. (But you *may* just have to buy <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/dec-sb-add-on-3?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">this stamp set</span></a> because the adorable factor is OFF THE CHARTS.)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgA2EKFplhtnFpKwKB3kLV7DDVWV0y1tBnzwtiQ7-gPgliUbyOwdCbyifnZt8wNRC6HVvBFCCeVRLjiKk8MQia0pUCO3zQgU3DNQOlVQYneOSIwmvBDD4bv1jmc1fLCTle0u_K-ve9B0Yc/s1600/pic1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgA2EKFplhtnFpKwKB3kLV7DDVWV0y1tBnzwtiQ7-gPgliUbyOwdCbyifnZt8wNRC6HVvBFCCeVRLjiKk8MQia0pUCO3zQgU3DNQOlVQYneOSIwmvBDD4bv1jmc1fLCTle0u_K-ve9B0Yc/s1600/pic1.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
Simple supply list here: <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/shop?aff=d4145a2d&search=tags&utf8=%E2%9C%93"><span style="color: #999999;">tags</span></a>, <span style="color: #999999;"><a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/shop/paint?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">paint</span></a> </span>and <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/shop?aff=d4145a2d&search=stamps&utf8=%E2%9C%93"><span style="color: #999999;">stamps</span></a>. To make a snowy background, drop paint on the tag<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVlOrhu3OFP4wWANx45GvaNap1PXCsVrZfrs40mNYJYMPx41ja1wn1Kh9fwxvlnUFtHoMU1OB0hoWnFo4lkm8HbokY8HIDyRZbzZ15Tp5GxgYxKXNGRTSKMW5nmrmB1osGtHc_U67IqmY/s1600/pic2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVlOrhu3OFP4wWANx45GvaNap1PXCsVrZfrs40mNYJYMPx41ja1wn1Kh9fwxvlnUFtHoMU1OB0hoWnFo4lkm8HbokY8HIDyRZbzZ15Tp5GxgYxKXNGRTSKMW5nmrmB1osGtHc_U67IqmY/s1600/pic2.jpg" height="282" width="400" /></a></div>
and then drag it across the surface with like an old gift card. You may have to drag over it a few times to achieve the look you want. Random is good here.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3brNJrrSTSsNt7-wmlpaGx-_is861rk_Nq_TZ53Z93-LG6PVrkAfvXN4p27fC4nHTIaR-bzcwomx-yP_DG_j9IF5vdjafRoDhXg4avgl6gmA9OF1D5Mth1v3LeZ8WS9ofwal76xNfzbg/s1600/pic3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3brNJrrSTSsNt7-wmlpaGx-_is861rk_Nq_TZ53Z93-LG6PVrkAfvXN4p27fC4nHTIaR-bzcwomx-yP_DG_j9IF5vdjafRoDhXg4avgl6gmA9OF1D5Mth1v3LeZ8WS9ofwal76xNfzbg/s1600/pic3.jpg" height="282" width="400" /></a></div>
Another way to add a simple background to your tag is a snowflake effect. It's just a pencil eraser dipped in paint.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjT1NXGikqOgWWSJUgWry5rRr4S0Twde8KBbshYeFx4_z9T4zCk8WdwgiKPl3pFAG3nvrR58pg0McN-M4yQiLQtyLzBJuufQwJN4cBreOSixfJlHc4LjDrR0VPwc-OpPB-UqRNA6qnva1U/s1600/pic4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjT1NXGikqOgWWSJUgWry5rRr4S0Twde8KBbshYeFx4_z9T4zCk8WdwgiKPl3pFAG3nvrR58pg0McN-M4yQiLQtyLzBJuufQwJN4cBreOSixfJlHc4LjDrR0VPwc-OpPB-UqRNA6qnva1U/s1600/pic4.jpg" height="288" width="400" /></a></div>
After the paint is dry, stamp away. You can mix up stamps, ink colors, and embellishments. This is a fun way to use up bits and pieces in which you only have a few of an embellishment pack left. Here, I've used <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/dec-sb-add-on-3?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">cork snowflakes</span></a> and <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/digital/printable-journal-cards-shapes/park-ave-printable-by-in-a-creative-bubble?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">digital elements</span></a> from the Studio Calico shop. You can see I stamped the bear on old book paper and cut him out. Love the look.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitbQ_3-rYA8rWG6pdD8tI2nmcR9yLd21Kjux9nwi6ewav1VR0R-2bSkcc3oRXsAxXYELO2Nf2OgOYi1Kbmh2jZeRRR-zl7VFMb24CEku5VnLjs3Eq8XZbf5o7ke4UtKRKOA-3pOKxti0U/s1600/pic5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitbQ_3-rYA8rWG6pdD8tI2nmcR9yLd21Kjux9nwi6ewav1VR0R-2bSkcc3oRXsAxXYELO2Nf2OgOYi1Kbmh2jZeRRR-zl7VFMb24CEku5VnLjs3Eq8XZbf5o7ke4UtKRKOA-3pOKxti0U/s1600/pic5.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
And if your stamped bear looks cold, give him a scarf for crying out loud. I mean, I can hardly stand it. And he's waving "thanks" to me. It's just too much.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFmqGdid67foAzYsdOLRPcsjYzSdv2DWrtJ4cAaUY7gCHTO7USO4IRQCo9aHefpe9N3Q5xu_FcpdE0Du2d5pPDoDX98TYteDO-DTXbffkmpJHiniHK1DkFtf0t-YLwLkghrtMS3maoHE8/s1600/pic6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFmqGdid67foAzYsdOLRPcsjYzSdv2DWrtJ4cAaUY7gCHTO7USO4IRQCo9aHefpe9N3Q5xu_FcpdE0Du2d5pPDoDX98TYteDO-DTXbffkmpJHiniHK1DkFtf0t-YLwLkghrtMS3maoHE8/s1600/pic6.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
A little baker's twine and your tags are ready to dress up your gift giving this year. Or maybe use them to top a card or a scrapbook page. Either way, you'll have the coolest tags on the block :)<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #8f8b89; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; text-align: left;">Grab a cup of coffee and sit a spell. I'm gonna start this novel off with a big group hug.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #8f8b89; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; margin-bottom: 0.67em; margin-top: 0.67em; text-align: left;">
Most of you know my mother in law died in Feb. after almost 20 days in ICU because of the flu. It was the most difficult, devastating thing we have ever experienced. She was a rock to our family. I mean, Jesus is the rock, but she was like his right hand woman.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #8f8b89; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; margin-bottom: 0.67em; margin-top: 0.67em; text-align: left;">
However, there is more that has happened within our family this past year which has made everything so much more difficult.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #8f8b89; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; margin-bottom: 0.67em; margin-top: 0.67em; text-align: left;">
I read a quote on pinterest that said, "Grief is like the ocean; it comes in waves, ebbing and flowing. Sometimes the water is calm, and sometimes it is overwhelming. All we can do is learn how to swim."</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #8f8b89; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; margin-bottom: 0.67em; margin-top: 0.67em; text-align: left;">
and I thought...this is so very true, but we aren't even swimming. We are still treading water. I've never experienced a loss like this, so I'm not sure when you stop trying to just keep your head above water and actually move toward the shore.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #8f8b89; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; margin-bottom: 0.67em; margin-top: 0.67em; text-align: left;">
I felt something had to give and since I have nothing left, it had to be SC. Sometimes it sucks being grown up about things :) I started homeschooling full time this year because I thought.. let's make things as crazy as possible (I'm kidding. kinda.) So extra scrap time is zero. I feel distracted and at the same time, obligated to be more available for my family because of all we have went through and are still going through. And then there are the holidays, which bring their own new set of waters to try and navigate.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #8f8b89; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; margin-bottom: 0.67em; margin-top: 0.67em; text-align: left;">
So I made the tough choice to not reapply to the CT.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #8f8b89; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; margin-bottom: 0.67em; margin-top: 0.67em; text-align: left;">
I Love SC. Capital L. The people that make up Studio Calico...not only the employees and creative team, but the community members as well, are some of the best people you will ever meet. (Or not meet as the case maybe.) If you love getting crafty and playing with paper and aren't a part of that community, you are missing out. Go join. I plan to still scrap now and then and of course remain a subscriber. Because man, I love me some Studio Calico.</div>

Ahhh, December. You are always such a pretty month.<br />
<span style="color: #999999;"><a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/park-ave?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">Studio Calico December kits</span></a> </span>were revealed while I was out of town stuffing my face with turkey, but I wanted to share what I created with the Park Ave. kits this month!<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
These first two are<a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/park-ave-scrapbook-kit?aff=d4145a2d"> <span style="color: #999999;">main kit </span></a>only. I like the fact that these two very different layouts came from the same kit. I think it shows that you can mix & match and create the look you are going for. I'm not a huge purple/pink fan, but I had this photo, which happened to have both those colors in it. So it works! I cut up all the great graphic paper to use as a burst, similar to the lights on the stage. The title is cut with an exacto knife and raised with dimensional foam. Transparency pieces back the title. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA8Bd7MuPQKzica98L0iZ54iRm0pZRbkr2tpR1g1RYNidSyCPLDOMAzb2-LWa2fzJOpO6Iq2Y-A60eQJjKWJLNLLzS2UWAz-ATwGPajWf0hy8aAnO-NksNARBdW7yeNRwCADjPdg7Pblg/s1600/avett.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA8Bd7MuPQKzica98L0iZ54iRm0pZRbkr2tpR1g1RYNidSyCPLDOMAzb2-LWa2fzJOpO6Iq2Y-A60eQJjKWJLNLLzS2UWAz-ATwGPajWf0hy8aAnO-NksNARBdW7yeNRwCADjPdg7Pblg/s1600/avett.jpg" height="400" width="295" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This one is true, blue December to me. Those diamond shapes were great, but I didn't want to use them as diamonds. So I cut them up as triangle trees. I also split apart the wood veneer arrows in the kit to make real wood tree trunks. Because I am weird like that. And apparently in my world snow falls down as<span style="color: #999999;"> <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/shop/paint?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">mint hint and emerald city</span></a></span>. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlr6-L7OvFtHMZ9dWy-iiubbspiBE7yUf5KG5Wb9LYZL7yOU3Hqa4fIYnVMpEt31vC0cD30MDUWAgxRin3hgHOQKKkJ5k0jeWbSsfrvPEm0ljKhUvq7NpvLc5YGwECa4ky8rs89n1yyH8/s1600/december.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlr6-L7OvFtHMZ9dWy-iiubbspiBE7yUf5KG5Wb9LYZL7yOU3Hqa4fIYnVMpEt31vC0cD30MDUWAgxRin3hgHOQKKkJ5k0jeWbSsfrvPEm0ljKhUvq7NpvLc5YGwECa4ky8rs89n1yyH8/s1600/december.jpg" height="400" width="378" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These next three are mixes of almost every kit. Just one big December kit party! This one was mainly the <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/dec-sb-add-on-1?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">Ritz</span></a> add on and not me in the sense that it uses ALL THE FLOWERS, but so me in that it does it in a boho-ish way...? I don't know what that means. I just liked it all thrown together. The journaling is a quote from pinterest. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQtdMPc1jt46iiQ2vghFW9mOsf3lIf260uRaUgEZSygU2rCgyA07n8jRLo5a812zzGEMZCJDlT07Yu9y2Y9tvVQyrYOSuVulgDXWWqFZ4SKq9tlOIwVaJLEdeOOmeqPipcQQ13xPnJSjc/s1600/daydream.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQtdMPc1jt46iiQ2vghFW9mOsf3lIf260uRaUgEZSygU2rCgyA07n8jRLo5a812zzGEMZCJDlT07Yu9y2Y9tvVQyrYOSuVulgDXWWqFZ4SKq9tlOIwVaJLEdeOOmeqPipcQQ13xPnJSjc/s1600/daydream.jpg" height="400" width="373" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This boy and his books. I love it. I went watercolor crazy and used mainly the <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/dec-sb-add-on-2?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">Helmsley</span></a> add on. Lots of blues and greens. I liked using the crazy alpha explosion to reiterate the reading theme. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7fiwEtjYjSMgHk_tc7BW4s_L3GN44G6Bq71q14fLQ4GfZHX3JudvBpQdUnh4q_lryvkLbPUemt26HilB4NLw18ytOsd2igHEwhJE9eqWc6wAaS5YVLh4-LIma95AvitX4Q6AL9-FUY1s/s1600/adveture.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7fiwEtjYjSMgHk_tc7BW4s_L3GN44G6Bq71q14fLQ4GfZHX3JudvBpQdUnh4q_lryvkLbPUemt26HilB4NLw18ytOsd2igHEwhJE9eqWc6wAaS5YVLh4-LIma95AvitX4Q6AL9-FUY1s/s1600/adveture.jpg" height="400" width="395" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Last, but not least, a snow layout. because it's the december kit and you have to do a snow layout! Not really, but snow layouts are some of my favorite. I went crazy horizontal with this. I tend to do that from time to time for no good reason other than to mix it up a bit. I added some snow (paint) to the alpha and let me tell you...that stamp set in <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/dec-sb-add-on-3?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #666666;">Waldorf</span></a> caught me by surprise. I am not usually a cute animal type stamper, but these were COOL animals and I couldn't stop stamping that bear. And then I gave him a scarf and gagged over the cuteness! Too much! </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbox67YFZvkVdKMfW1VubvpTUouuKTZ5EL6rOSruHct_CX53h61fp90q7ck-kUVZH_3jESo2IwHFurfVSJljZLc61i6oxvWsXlzbSVPklc8OXUv6qbtJAWoTjChLlIh1b0F1a8JGj4Rwc/s1600/snow.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbox67YFZvkVdKMfW1VubvpTUouuKTZ5EL6rOSruHct_CX53h61fp90q7ck-kUVZH_3jESo2IwHFurfVSJljZLc61i6oxvWsXlzbSVPklc8OXUv6qbtJAWoTjChLlIh1b0F1a8JGj4Rwc/s1600/snow.jpg" height="337" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And finally, this was my last kit as a Creative Team member for Studio Calico. (I have a separate post on that tomorrow, but also posted on the message board <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/community/studio-chat/topics/75347-love-with-a-capital-l"><span style="color: #999999;">here</span></a>.) I chose not to apply for the 2015 team. It was a hard year personally, but a great year being a part of such a kind, creative, innovative team. I wish the upcoming CT all the best! </div>

We are *almost* halfway through our school year. That's a great place to be :) We are on a semi break from now until the first of January and I gotta say, I'm loving that. OF COURSE there is still schoolwork to do, but not so structured and definitely taking a total break a few weeks before Christmas. Lots of reading, lots of reviewing, lots of christmas carols, cookie baking, snuggles and hopefully snow. And did I mention cookies? ;) It's nice to have that freedom. Just ask Paxton--He wanted to do his handwriting in his underwear. In the dark. With a headlamp. And who am I to argue? I'm sure that IS way more fun! You have to choose your battles, you know?Lexihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01612738232939804142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113673255408843947.post-45344700436145407492014-11-24T22:39:00.002-06:002014-11-24T22:39:13.600-06:00Park Ave. SneaksIt's ALREADY time for <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/sneak-peek?aff=d4145a2d">S<span style="color: #999999;">tudio Calico's December kit, Park Ave</span></a>., sneaks! This time of year is always so sneaky anyway...time just goes so fast. As I mentioned on the board, I really had fun with these kits. There seems to be a bit of something for everyone in the kits this month and none of them are too themey, which is nice.<br />
These first two are main only.<br />

<span style="color: #999999;"><a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/walden?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">Studio Calico Walden kits</span></a> </span>have been revealed and they. are. awesome. This was a month I had too many ideas, too many cool products to play with and not enough time. Hashtag story of my life.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhC5YXoNBmkoCRbsGcif0C0B_LLcz3Jmn0E40Mszc_ux-DY8lUH4NIN-5sdFDCsif2eK7FpbKstCPbwZqr9JbPS_W2ZwX81PHrfWhOCBbUgWxnT1_5o2ghLr2SawLSISvKO4pcrldK3p88/s1600/autumn.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhC5YXoNBmkoCRbsGcif0C0B_LLcz3Jmn0E40Mszc_ux-DY8lUH4NIN-5sdFDCsif2eK7FpbKstCPbwZqr9JbPS_W2ZwX81PHrfWhOCBbUgWxnT1_5o2ghLr2SawLSISvKO4pcrldK3p88/s1600/autumn.jpg" height="400" width="302" /></a></div>
This one was the first I did and while I don't really love it, I like it okay. I spray painted the deer gold and cut the doily from the main kit into leaves.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidGKBSysqwF8RNsnQ20Xxs_CSGwu_M14DKtlloDJd4oCZ1fPOTrzVlX46Kytls9h_5QdvBEFtmCXtBskJzMo52xoZliA1_eZpA9e6-9dzzn0x1QPwHYFykEpI6jaXbQToI07-BfxO25Mw/s1600/life.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidGKBSysqwF8RNsnQ20Xxs_CSGwu_M14DKtlloDJd4oCZ1fPOTrzVlX46Kytls9h_5QdvBEFtmCXtBskJzMo52xoZliA1_eZpA9e6-9dzzn0x1QPwHYFykEpI6jaXbQToI07-BfxO25Mw/s1600/life.jpg" height="400" width="293" /></a></div>
This one...sigh. It's just super simple, but I like how the colors and layers all came together. That tree paper is my new fave. Again, <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/walden-scrapbook-kit?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">main kit only</span></a>. I am trying *reeeeeeeally* hard to no longer hoard any product. So while my old self would be all "don't use those cool word strips as a background layer!" my new self is like "where's the glue?. I like the look.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPqh-lNw0z-TOi_AeJ7XGka3Cob6fsjN4q2aak_rpKlToWHvkNacIp-uSjHyECMRAs3hisBXG6ZX5o2ceaROGCn9ydkbAYmlAyetlqsZpKuQhGkAhhd81SKqr2uXPowRA81HM_gZ3ajo4/s1600/xo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPqh-lNw0z-TOi_AeJ7XGka3Cob6fsjN4q2aak_rpKlToWHvkNacIp-uSjHyECMRAs3hisBXG6ZX5o2ceaROGCn9ydkbAYmlAyetlqsZpKuQhGkAhhd81SKqr2uXPowRA81HM_gZ3ajo4/s1600/xo.jpg" height="400" width="376" /></a></div>
These next three are a combo of all the add ons. This one is mainly with the <span style="color: #999999;"><span style="color: #999999;"><a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/concord?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">Concord</span></a> add on.</span></span> There are hints of pink, but I kept them to a minimum. We were at an Avett Brothers concert so I added the tickets as a little embellishment. It's a kinda random mix of craziness, but I kept it all similar in color and then added a b/w photo which helps calm down the crazy.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjvikbi9i87l5OJERAKZHavX0-gAyhdKgVXuwJeS9rNUhJOXMHYR3UVECFilfNfnpccYx2oefeiG8SWcdEqcj54Wqp0W5F8DJxoC72uknWiBnST8rd340E3Y_t0Iz8795gxsjbnDb2whM/s1600/littleleaves.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjvikbi9i87l5OJERAKZHavX0-gAyhdKgVXuwJeS9rNUhJOXMHYR3UVECFilfNfnpccYx2oefeiG8SWcdEqcj54Wqp0W5F8DJxoC72uknWiBnST8rd340E3Y_t0Iz8795gxsjbnDb2whM/s1600/littleleaves.jpg" height="400" width="293" /></a></div>
This was mainly the <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/baker-bridge?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">Baker Bridge</span></a> add on and can I just say...those vellum leaves! I've had this photo awhile and when I saw this sweet little poem and those leaves, I knew they were all meant for each other. The little leaf stamp from <span style="color: #999999;"><a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/concord?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">Concord</span></a> </span>was a perfect addition.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghk-s24aLJDCyFizihYQ2RVFueDU1SqbgRqFUKh23FDjxAom06VaYkDUWzyf_94Mh0w8U8nMGI_PH7zKWkLsMyaAVzKIWgLzNrSOPfpJCs5SjWQI_dTHVnUxLKwXGHti-qq3qspH2qpio/s1600/wink.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghk-s24aLJDCyFizihYQ2RVFueDU1SqbgRqFUKh23FDjxAom06VaYkDUWzyf_94Mh0w8U8nMGI_PH7zKWkLsMyaAVzKIWgLzNrSOPfpJCs5SjWQI_dTHVnUxLKwXGHti-qq3qspH2qpio/s1600/wink.jpg" height="400" width="296" /></a></div>
I had been wanting to make a washi tape tree for awhile and this tape in <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/pine-hill?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">Pine Hill</span> </a>was the perfect opportunity. It's a pretty whimsical layout, which is the same feel to the photo used. I swear I'm part elf so scrapping christmas in October is fine by me! <br />
There are still kits available as well as some great new stamp sets (think christmas & new years!). You can check all that out <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/walden?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">here</span></a>. Now I'm off to clean my desk and get ready for December's kits. Can't wait :)<br />

I am not a quilter. In fact, I joke I can only sew on paper. (It's totally true, by the way.) I had these fun photos from a recent visit to Laura Ingall's home in Mansfield, MO and wanted to do something special with them. The <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/the-underground?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">October Studio Calico kit</span></a> was sitting on my desk and I thought...let's make a paper quilt. There was a quilt in one of the photos and this would tie it all together.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuvf687JdI9y6Dk_f9fq9JrCjazAlA6k6pbNRTaOHRJ7ZvNkUBWQ8gfvw8yVWUk9khWUHFf7Er9y4kzPYJzR987KBZHOgdPiYWIO0UowFPno-YxJlmD5jbliqWjqEk5U1M12tg7_EraPk/s1600/littlehouse2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuvf687JdI9y6Dk_f9fq9JrCjazAlA6k6pbNRTaOHRJ7ZvNkUBWQ8gfvw8yVWUk9khWUHFf7Er9y4kzPYJzR987KBZHOgdPiYWIO0UowFPno-YxJlmD5jbliqWjqEk5U1M12tg7_EraPk/s1600/littlehouse2.jpg" height="285" width="400" /></a></div>
I'm all about not making things too complicated when scrapbooking and truly this background could not be easier. I decided to go with a kind of log cabin-ish pattern because of the simple straight lines.<br />
So first off, pick the paper with coordinating patterns/colors.<span style="color: #999999;"> <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/the-underground?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">Using a kit</span> </a></span>for this step makes it even easier because the coordinating guess work is taken out for you. Make one pattern reddish in tone.<br />
Once you have your paper picked out, cut rectangle strips out of two different patterns in 1x3 inch. Doing this for a 12x12 sized layout will make your pattern the exact size, with four blocks across each row and no trimming. For the center square, use a 1 inch square punch or simply cut a 1 inch square. Typically, the middle square of the pattern is a red color to mimic a chimney if you were looking at a cabin from an ariel view.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWfnJOSNALMcb8CSOGk0THTtQJ3fsqNfEM96-abmqmvCkdmhmzmjFr9M9z23pHoJXxxNlBKuQu0vZTzdfRQCMxkBXi4kWikiLM_LMPJ-2ocYYUdT950O-43gFuY0moaexb2FHXbAODYk0/s1600/craftgawker1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWfnJOSNALMcb8CSOGk0THTtQJ3fsqNfEM96-abmqmvCkdmhmzmjFr9M9z23pHoJXxxNlBKuQu0vZTzdfRQCMxkBXi4kWikiLM_LMPJ-2ocYYUdT950O-43gFuY0moaexb2FHXbAODYk0/s1600/craftgawker1.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
Take your first rectangle strip and glue it down. Then for the sides: one side will layer over that top piece, while the opposite side layers underneath. You can see this in the photo. The bottom piece is layered opposite the top piece. It is really a matter of over/under/over/under. Once that is finished, add your red square to the middle. Done! Now your next block will go opposite in terms of patterned rectangle strip used and the way it is layered.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhySPHubQhL3hQWjOmTsM_-b-OIZVTAjFub1Ug5cV5nq_Cg8d3Wx_39XBxMetUB0tD5zfM0-cU8voKEZrvW-XCO4JVTpoceQBd_Jz2lL02Aj-kzzgkzVlqKCk8SBn4nL2UInnqd2yKrA78/s1600/craftgawker2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhySPHubQhL3hQWjOmTsM_-b-OIZVTAjFub1Ug5cV5nq_Cg8d3Wx_39XBxMetUB0tD5zfM0-cU8voKEZrvW-XCO4JVTpoceQBd_Jz2lL02Aj-kzzgkzVlqKCk8SBn4nL2UInnqd2yKrA78/s1600/craftgawker2.jpg" height="272" width="400" /></a></div>
Once you finish the row, start the process again on the next row, doing the block underneath opposite of what is done above it. So essentially, blocks that are diagonal from each other are copies, while blocks side by side or above one another are opposite. You can see that here.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-rq719uNu6FZ533V53LZt4WVswgfKxm-fgGBbret03eC1X8xvzZED6R0dc33ZacE-CI5xUSQ90kFb_Ty3ILJzrbhY-aGw-D8J988htuH29y41kjsKmFhQzH-1EjAty7jDz5AUt66YnTM/s1600/craftgawker3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-rq719uNu6FZ533V53LZt4WVswgfKxm-fgGBbret03eC1X8xvzZED6R0dc33ZacE-CI5xUSQ90kFb_Ty3ILJzrbhY-aGw-D8J988htuH29y41kjsKmFhQzH-1EjAty7jDz5AUt66YnTM/s1600/craftgawker3.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
For a 12x12 background you will have four rows of four blocks each, for a total of 16 blocks. That's if you want your entire background covered. I sewed over my blocks to give even more of a quilt feel...and because I can't help but sew on paper :)<br />
So simple, or "sew" simple if I am being totally cheesy.<br />
Now if only sewing an actual quilt with actual fabric were this easy! Because somehow I think curling up by the fire with a paper log cabin quilt would just end very badly.<br />

I had so much fun with this kit. It is one of my top fave kits of 2014. And there is some christmas thrown in for good measure (in one of the add ons) so that was like the gold star. Because I am nothing if not a fan of Christmas spirit...even in October.<br />
The first two are main kit only...<br />

This is the time of year when most people start thinking of words like "thankful" and "grateful" and what they mean. This month, I was super inspired by The Underground Project Life kit. It had all the elements I love in a kit: neutrals with a few pops of colors, not too theme-y but with some autumn-ish cards, two mini silkscreens (which I love because they are reusable, I can use different paints to match what I'm working with, can be used on cards and layouts as well, and the patterns are very versatile), cute mini brass star clips, those puffy stickers--perfect autumn colors with great sayings in the best font, a mini alpha, copper colored rubons, a mini stamp set with lots of different icons... and then the cherry on top? THAT FALL MASKING TAPE. Can you even? I already put in a 'pretty please' for more tape like that in future kits. So yeah, I was a super fan of this month's project life kit!<br />
There are PRIZES to be won, ya'll. Like really good prizes.<br />

I've mentioned before, but I just really love this time of year for scrapbooking. I think with the changing of the season, festivals, pumpkin patches, holidays...there is just generally a lot of picture talking happening. I have also never been able to resist autumn themed product. I'm not sure how I want to document fall yet. The photo taking has already started and the <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/the-underground-project-life-kit?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">coolest project life kit just dropped from Studio Calico</span></a>. It is made for fall photos. I mean, did you see that awesome masking tape? I think if I combine this kit with some time (find me some time, will ya?) maybe a mini album will be happening. Fingers crossed. There's just so much good stuff this time of year brings. And with a class that has "joy" in the title it just wouldn't be right ;)Lexihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01612738232939804142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113673255408843947.post-48643531365266237022014-09-30T19:32:00.000-05:002014-10-02T15:13:33.966-05:00spray ink & celery background <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So you know that random half used chunk of celery in the back of the crisper of your fridge? Yeah, you're going to need it for this project. You can feel good about using your veggies (even if you aren't eating them) AND making a unique background for your next scrapbook project. Win/win!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEix20uQdm1S7JETsSUWRytUdyspbohYMWvLD_F5G5CPTs0fnfMdmyxi3y7WkhwQBlDS_khHXasmIL7f-rO0hKsN9vfT997saI5MLYaOoX4K9S2FZLFPHLvO702Kk6j3dSzmgGARsbZNMDM/s1600/watercolor1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEix20uQdm1S7JETsSUWRytUdyspbohYMWvLD_F5G5CPTs0fnfMdmyxi3y7WkhwQBlDS_khHXasmIL7f-rO0hKsN9vfT997saI5MLYaOoX4K9S2FZLFPHLvO702Kk6j3dSzmgGARsbZNMDM/s1600/watercolor1.jpg" height="316" width="400" /></a></div>
I have seen how the bottom of celery has been used with paint as a stamp to almost create a flower like pattern. I thought...what would it look like if I tried pairing this veggie with<a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/shop/mister-huey-s-masks?aff=d4145a2d"> <span style="color: #999999;">spray ink</span></a>? This is the part of the celery I always throw away anyway so if I could make something cool with it, well, I was willing to try. I really like the look of shibori so I chose to use a deep indigo color of ink. Any ink color would work depending on the mood/look you are going for with your project. You can use the ink just straight up, but I chose to add two sprays of ink to a bowl and then water it down a bit.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2mmYQSFeIOA_955uI75WsDOTubMkQW5ewnMAHxsdvyFsUvBnerkIlmQVgOFiTcCGSmyb0E6EW2zFigHP_OvmE-MGbddzvms9RBcKDm9xkItAQUozm3V0vlSYBBezzHJIKPqAhKw02lq0/s1600/watercolor2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2mmYQSFeIOA_955uI75WsDOTubMkQW5ewnMAHxsdvyFsUvBnerkIlmQVgOFiTcCGSmyb0E6EW2zFigHP_OvmE-MGbddzvms9RBcKDm9xkItAQUozm3V0vlSYBBezzHJIKPqAhKw02lq0/s1600/watercolor2.jpg" height="306" width="400" /></a></div>
I put the cut end of the celery in the ink and then stamped on white cardstock. You can see it is pretty wet so you will want to wait for it to dry completely. The look will be perfectly imperfect.<br />
Once the cardstock is dry, the color is more muted in some places and deeper in others. I rotated how I held the celery so that the image wasn't consistent. I wasn't sure how I would use this paper, but after it was dry it reminded me of water and the celery pattern turned out a bit like a funky starfish. Pairing this background with some of the softer pieces from<span style="color: #999999;"> <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/the-underground?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">Studio Calico's The Underground kit</span></a> </span>and a beach photo just seemed to tie it all together.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2-4l5vexU_wJ-pRuKkFr429n8O2vXgYZeJkFLqUKw6E4KlO71aQi6tCxL9icUJO6uTnagLJPkWeVp0qJYfdiyAEAgnTMevrGREFzQ3plk-xp24kg9Ylm5JPmIOM8c1WzF7Q6n5Sq-EPk/s1600/onthebeach1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2-4l5vexU_wJ-pRuKkFr429n8O2vXgYZeJkFLqUKw6E4KlO71aQi6tCxL9icUJO6uTnagLJPkWeVp0qJYfdiyAEAgnTMevrGREFzQ3plk-xp24kg9Ylm5JPmIOM8c1WzF7Q6n5Sq-EPk/s1600/onthebeach1.jpg" height="297" width="400" /></a></div>
The "on the beach" page was from an old book I found at the thrift store. I just love it when thrift store finds, old veggies and scrapbooking collide ;)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwPTGGcptorhOfppLjUhIO-heT1c93eQD13CEc862g8T9CT5eT4dAuDrj7GiQ1cuTRbb7awNH_YZEpTZES1llG2mVzSHTmG8-ETaQpPiJL4-TexDv9q4YX3rzwGlPNQnxOprzlvKHl8Vw/s1600/onthebeach.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwPTGGcptorhOfppLjUhIO-heT1c93eQD13CEc862g8T9CT5eT4dAuDrj7GiQ1cuTRbb7awNH_YZEpTZES1llG2mVzSHTmG8-ETaQpPiJL4-TexDv9q4YX3rzwGlPNQnxOprzlvKHl8Vw/s1600/onthebeach.jpg" height="400" width="293" /></a></div>
I love how this simple technique took some almost discarded produce and a plain piece of cardstock and created a unique background. So see...celery isn't just for peanut butter anymore. What other veggies should we try?<br />

I was out of town and just now catching up. In case you missed it, you can see all the<span style="color: #999999;"> <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/creative-team-galleries/the-underground?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">creative team projects here</span></a></span>!<br />
Here are my projects for the month. These first two are main kit only.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhU8XeiNi_DPAh79I16_GXDtajLWuyNuebE-xMATG5PD-mN_qrPTnzKeVXolhbXEU7mtCBkwJtsOsBbiiQljPOg3MitcgHPXhAIfDmYIwzqEKqPLv27VK7-oGP_9UzFGoSX0j-WX1fuuRk/s1600/remember.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhU8XeiNi_DPAh79I16_GXDtajLWuyNuebE-xMATG5PD-mN_qrPTnzKeVXolhbXEU7mtCBkwJtsOsBbiiQljPOg3MitcgHPXhAIfDmYIwzqEKqPLv27VK7-oGP_9UzFGoSX0j-WX1fuuRk/s1600/remember.jpg" height="400" width="381" /></a></div>
This one...it has a photo that is just precious to me. It was about this time last fall at my in laws house. We had no idea we only had a few more moths with my sweet mother in law. Every time I look at it I think.. if I had known then what I know now...what would I do different about that weekend? What would I say? I've wanted to scrap to for awhile, but just kept holding on to it. There is so much to what this photo is that I just couldn't get it down in journaling. Maybe someday.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixSHWU_jFDyUyrXxG0V7QDM3T2002cp2xmk_4MfK-8C-11hQBfTWe9TF794zBoklNHDL7XoRTu5AXdVE_NH7aP3GrnWFLH4p646LeLMdaAQdBiQYv9AflJQ2OkwmOIopBsxPmKylNUQ1g/s1600/pumpkin.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixSHWU_jFDyUyrXxG0V7QDM3T2002cp2xmk_4MfK-8C-11hQBfTWe9TF794zBoklNHDL7XoRTu5AXdVE_NH7aP3GrnWFLH4p646LeLMdaAQdBiQYv9AflJQ2OkwmOIopBsxPmKylNUQ1g/s1600/pumpkin.jpg" height="400" width="387" /></a></div>
This main only layout was capturing that first PSL of the season and just getting funky with that cool paper. That is my biggest tip when you have a patterned paper with a big design...shrink it. I usually do this by cutting it up and in this case, punch it. A lot. Makes for fun layers when pieced back together haphazardly.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieg10KGIYuN8LTn9t94E-kQw3cDoY973badrnkZ7fi2IMPyAxYG93A_OMQOowqG2oB5CigSlByWjuxK4mJp9UjPOFdXqkr9LcOzygfZ15garTRpezrVCqcGBnIzYf7_qxpjT4FkCHF1g8/s1600/out.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieg10KGIYuN8LTn9t94E-kQw3cDoY973badrnkZ7fi2IMPyAxYG93A_OMQOowqG2oB5CigSlByWjuxK4mJp9UjPOFdXqkr9LcOzygfZ15garTRpezrVCqcGBnIzYf7_qxpjT4FkCHF1g8/s1600/out.jpg" height="400" width="296" /></a></div>
These next two are mixes of all the kits. This layout was yet another pic of my sleepy boy. I feel kinda creepster with the amount of sleeping Paxton pics I have. I started by sewing a million "z"'s. It added some interest and texture to an otherwise plain background. I liked playing with the space on the photo with the title and journaling words snippets. Those wood veneer triangles were super cool and kinda tell you right where to look.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheF-JcZzicJnKJOTa8DzRAmeNvFhxAcs87G6b14ARXUaJzVGLmT49GfXOOpldWRMTAVLWDY2LC4eJAMO90KQwmVXIX4niZBOJzgGuUz2MX5Z-GvxTYCo8QTcz8_aZhjrWVfNrWqcqj4Ds/s1600/littlehouse.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheF-JcZzicJnKJOTa8DzRAmeNvFhxAcs87G6b14ARXUaJzVGLmT49GfXOOpldWRMTAVLWDY2LC4eJAMO90KQwmVXIX4niZBOJzgGuUz2MX5Z-GvxTYCo8QTcz8_aZhjrWVfNrWqcqj4Ds/s1600/littlehouse.jpg" height="400" width="380" /></a></div>
We had recently, like just a few weekends ago, wen tot the Laura Ingall's house for their annual celebration. The boys and I had so much fun and I wanted to document it right away. (So unlike me!) I decide the best way to scrap these photos was to make a paper quilt background. I can't sew fabric, much less an actual quilt, to save my soul. But a paper quilt? That I can do. I choose patterned papers that went along with the photos and cut & sewed the day away. It's super easy to replicate. I'll have a tutorial next week :)<br />
Don't forget to check out the new goods added to the <span style="color: #999999;">SC shop </span>this month, like these <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/the-underground?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">super cool stamp sets</span></a>, perfect for this time of year!<br />

<a href="http://neohl.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/the-exuberant-easy-item-for-you-to-hang-on-your-clothes-collection-in-the-ikea-coat-Hooks-hanger.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://neohl.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/the-exuberant-easy-item-for-you-to-hang-on-your-clothes-collection-in-the-ikea-coat-Hooks-hanger.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
Last January I started a "96 hanger challenge". Which I totally just made up. It came about because I wanted to simplify my closet and I wanted wooden hangers. I ordered several sets of these hangers from Ikea and decided 96 was a good number so I just went with it. I'll keep 96 things. I edited my closet like a madwoman and only used about half the hangers. That didn't include pants because I guess I was too lazy to hang up pants. The whole purge came to a stand still, as did life in general, when my mother in law got ill. Needless to say, it is several months later and I still have two massive boxes of clothes to donate/sell. I trip over them every time I go in my closet. Time to change that.<br />
<br />
I guess with the changing of the season, it has me thinking it is about time to switch it up in the wardrobe department. Ripped shorts for ripped jeans. Black short sleeved t-shirts for long black sleeved t-shirts. You know, really branch out. I'm coming back to that place of simplifying and I like it. I have recently heard about a capsule wardrobe. Do you know about this? Like, you choose a few items, 35-40 seems to be the magic number, and that is your wardrobe, but it is seasonal. So every three months you switch it up--keep what you like/can easily transition to the next season, but edit in other seasonal pieces, keeping that magical number of items. I really like this idea. I know I am more creative with scrapbooking when I have limited supplies so surely that would hold true in the wardrobe department. And how nice would it be to have pieces that mesh well so you could easily swap pieces around and find an outfit to wear without hangers flying? (Or maybe that is just me?) Anyway, I'm thinking I might be up for the challenge. I mean, I homeschool so p.j.'s/sweats would have to count in my rotation...that sounds sad or awesome. I'm not sure which yet.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media-cache-cd0.pinimg.com/736x/03/9d/ae/039dae3fc413b0dae9f0cb729ae7bc5d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://media-cache-cd0.pinimg.com/736x/03/9d/ae/039dae3fc413b0dae9f0cb729ae7bc5d.jpg" height="320" width="213" /></a></div>
One thing that WILL NOT be in rotation...culottes. How are these even making a comeback? Search this on Pinterest. I kid you not, these are becoming popular. I can't even. I stretched it with Birks, but culottes?<br />

From fall to the first of the year is my favorite time to play with paper. There is something about fall/winter scrapping that brings out the layers in me...as evidence in these sneaks. Thread was flying!</div>

Today begins a favorite season of mine. Yay for fall! Found this bag of tags in the $1 section of Target (it sucks me in every.single.time) and although I'm not a huge owl person anymore, I thought they would be fun to type on and give with a fall treat to some friends. A few fall things I'm hoping to do this season via my <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/lexibridges/fall/"><span style="color: #999999;">fall pinterest board</span></a>:<br />
make <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/pin/147985537729379005/"><span style="color: #999999;">this super cute garland</span></a>.<br />
<a href="http://www.pinterest.com/pin/147985537728966369/"><span style="color: #999999;">eat this</span></a>. really just eat ALL THE PUMPKIN THINGS.<br />
<a href="http://www.pinterest.com/pin/147985537726761969/"><span style="color: #999999;">drink this</span></a>.<br />
<a href="http://www.pinterest.com/pin/147985537728989545/"><span style="color: #999999;">paint some leaves</span></a>.<br />
and for the boys,<a href="http://www.pinterest.com/pin/147985537730884553/"> <span style="color: #999999;">this</span></a>. anything that involves things flying and candy is good in their book.<br />
Autumn, stick around awhile. Looks like I have lots to do :)Lexihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01612738232939804142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113673255408843947.post-60228067168618497852014-08-30T20:27:00.003-05:002014-08-30T20:27:31.015-05:00paper bag alpha I'm all about getting the most mileage out of products. That is why a lot of times I will use the same tag as a mask & an embellishment on two different layouts (<a href="http://lexi-bridges.blogspot.com/2014/08/studio-calico-september-reveal.html"><span style="color: #999999;">see this post</span></a>), deconstruct an embellishment to get more out of it, or take apart an envelope to use as a photo mat. When it comes to getting my monthly scrapbooking kit from <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/poet-society?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">Studio Calico</span></a>, I decided to challenge myself to use the one thing I get every month and usually throw away: the brown paper bag.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHmCU_I7iBg7ggg3vavA7yAZS1Paurvxc51Tpg0IRTwEf7vQHTzo7Qs2xOyj5f_flBkAqzJc7sStiFvVjm6bYdao2f1p5sD4MZuX_iKHXLU87Q97vvYiz2EYkxRl4Qq2euSgUWeVqmoDA/s1600/homegrownclose.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHmCU_I7iBg7ggg3vavA7yAZS1Paurvxc51Tpg0IRTwEf7vQHTzo7Qs2xOyj5f_flBkAqzJc7sStiFvVjm6bYdao2f1p5sD4MZuX_iKHXLU87Q97vvYiz2EYkxRl4Qq2euSgUWeVqmoDA/s1600/homegrownclose.jpg" height="282" width="400" /></a></div>
If you've been getting a kit for awhile now, you have several (or had--you'll want to keep them now!) brown paper bags. And if you are like me, they usually end up in the trash. Sometimes the alphabet that comes with your kit just won't go with the layout you have in mind. You can totally hand cut a title out of patterned paper, but if you want to save that pretty patterned paper for your project, try this!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7664gnkSlsa4dQbgdSVQ5nRlqX-nAtszMc6MdQRSg_MOnrAH7xMa-W8bJJSbs6G-L-4BjC_rVWNWfZrKhfl9na40a38ZdTNmWdirxgvoRM_8xT2cRUHn7-a6otGhCrPUCKoKlMkV-BLE/s1600/homegrown1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7664gnkSlsa4dQbgdSVQ5nRlqX-nAtszMc6MdQRSg_MOnrAH7xMa-W8bJJSbs6G-L-4BjC_rVWNWfZrKhfl9na40a38ZdTNmWdirxgvoRM_8xT2cRUHn7-a6otGhCrPUCKoKlMkV-BLE/s1600/homegrown1.jpg" height="277" width="400" /></a></div>
The color of these bags remind me of kraft paper. So it's very versatile. (Of course, if you don't have a brown paper bag you could use <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/more-kraft-10-pack?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">kraft paper</span></a> for the same look.) I had a farm-y type layout in mind and thought this would go perfect. I left the bag as is, which gave me two sets of each letter I cut. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8aMs8rDggcHCOINZodrke5j4Rme3m3p_RBmm6MoF_KxW8hiCorNXuhiGyi9T8_nMnD6qtOzhyFYWyWbxZIeG1oSrkJE_Gchck66E-iFBRhY4iaXDKbpHLfhG2MsDkI8Xni3XFtOw5xzM/s1600/homegrown2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8aMs8rDggcHCOINZodrke5j4Rme3m3p_RBmm6MoF_KxW8hiCorNXuhiGyi9T8_nMnD6qtOzhyFYWyWbxZIeG1oSrkJE_Gchck66E-iFBRhY4iaXDKbpHLfhG2MsDkI8Xni3XFtOw5xzM/s1600/homegrown2.jpg" height="290" width="400" /></a></div>
I freehand cut the letters on the bag with my<a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/shop/pens-markers?aff=d4145a2d"> <span style="color: #999999;">precision pen</span></a>. The gingham paper below is the width of my layout. Having it under my letters gave me an idea of how big to make them. You can see I did some letters more than once. That way, I had options when putting the layout together. I think a mix of upper and lowercase makes it look more interesting.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYkCu5ZZY26r1aIzx-d2YtrjLFxWzInV19tnIcHpm7uObocUyxGNVWCkxNQ__sOigChhsNT8b9Bf_ygpo_8LvnM-1_N6_q-slwf0jHn-TwA5D7xvhqCb07SDgmwnrqGDHAZE9jNFiJnGI/s1600/homegrown3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYkCu5ZZY26r1aIzx-d2YtrjLFxWzInV19tnIcHpm7uObocUyxGNVWCkxNQ__sOigChhsNT8b9Bf_ygpo_8LvnM-1_N6_q-slwf0jHn-TwA5D7xvhqCb07SDgmwnrqGDHAZE9jNFiJnGI/s1600/homegrown3.jpg" height="386" width="400" /></a></div>
It's like alphabet confetti! I went through and picked which letters I liked the best. Because I used the bag as it was, I got two layers. That allowed me to used the letters that were cut on the second layer, without any of the black outline showing.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwi7o9FmIDCZLipaMzHgvc_6wI3IOwyGbpMAo5aeNgiPqpqYArMseP4nMnurrt-8xIjqpBE5KfmMDHzgNNsmCmGLMSRstBWFmpa0gzWBqeaPQaA0_iykP2fLCBwaiKAx6I4AXoboP5OKA/s1600/homegrown.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwi7o9FmIDCZLipaMzHgvc_6wI3IOwyGbpMAo5aeNgiPqpqYArMseP4nMnurrt-8xIjqpBE5KfmMDHzgNNsmCmGLMSRstBWFmpa0gzWBqeaPQaA0_iykP2fLCBwaiKAx6I4AXoboP5OKA/s1600/homegrown.jpg" height="400" width="311" /></a></div>
Once I had my alpha where I wanted it, I sewed it all down. I alway love the look of stitching on a layout and especially here, with the "homegrown" freehand title, the kraft and gingham.. it gives the layout a fun, homespun feel. For this layout, I used pieces from <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/poet-society?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">September's Poet Society kits</span></a>, as well as <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/shop?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">South of Market</span></a> and a few random pieces from my stash.<br />
<br />
So simple and cost effective. You could do several things different here--like outline each letter or even sew around each individual letter. These bags would also be great for punching out shapes, cut into tags, even folded in to a paper bag mini album. The possibilities are kinda endless (and cheap)! Thanks for checking out this paper bag idea. I'm already thinking of ways I can use next month's brown bag. Hmmm.....<br />

I get ridiculously excited when halloween candy comes out. I'm like an eight year old. Just ask my eight year old ;) Today we spotted s'mores flavored candy corn. Say what?! And mellow creme pumpkins, which is a fall MUST. Next will be pumpkin spice lattes and just generally all things pumpkin-y. We already had a faux thanksgiving while studying the pilgrims this week in homeschool and I'm pretty sure fall decor needs to start coming out in the house. Although I didn't get my traditional fall black mani this time, I did try a light grey, which I love. A good transition color I think.<br />

<a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/poet-society?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">Poet Society</span></a> is up! This kit was such a great mix of colors and products. Anytime I see navy blue in the mix I know it's going to be good. It had the same vibe for me that Copper Mountain had...and I really loved that kit.<br />

First up, <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/poet-society-scrapbook-kit?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">main kit only</span> </a>layouts. I didn't have a main kit alpha this month so I got to play around with the fun <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/shop/stamps/maggie-alpha-stamp-set?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">Maggie alpha stamp set</span></a>. I used it to stamp with watercolors and loved the results. There is a fun piece of patterned paper int eh main that I cut apart ad created this weird triangle things with. The polkadot piece under the photo came from an envelope that I cut apart. It shows up in the next layout as well. I love deconstructing pieces in a kit to use them how I want and to get more mileage from them.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiUF9ZcUDeGzFpcu1BqaMMxXQ2BS_ezPj2B7ivAoa0m5zRx-V4HSRzgRr1KBgeKnVLOoEi9HOMHjyv1y_tKMq63DGxRvN8dEYl8vIr27HOaD9ArBwpP-79NFEBEo4Y20xCjLywB-NLh1A/s1600/favehello.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiUF9ZcUDeGzFpcu1BqaMMxXQ2BS_ezPj2B7ivAoa0m5zRx-V4HSRzgRr1KBgeKnVLOoEi9HOMHjyv1y_tKMq63DGxRvN8dEYl8vIr27HOaD9ArBwpP-79NFEBEo4Y20xCjLywB-NLh1A/s1600/favehello.jpg" height="400" width="305" /></a></div>
This photo. Sigh. It's just one of those that I want to scrap a few more times. Is that strange? It is just his personality frozen at this age in this moment in time. I love it. I took the rad blue tag from the main kit and featured it here as a mask. I laid it down six different places and sprayed over it with various Mister Huey colors. Super simple. Wiped it down and it was ready to be used on another layout. Like I mentioned above, I love getting double duty from my scrapbooking products. It's a great way to stretch a kit!<br />
These next three layouts are a combo, but each one is mainly just ONE add on kit. This layout uses mainly the <span style="color: #999999;"><a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/whitman?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">Whitman add-on</span></a> </span>and has a funky, graphic, edgy type vibe. I was digging the orange, grey, b/w combo and that silkscreen---so awesome. Hope to see more in future kits. (and yes, it's reusable!)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn_I4y3vbgq8GSdm3-C-IUvem73y_KD8QaN56Gpa858I7svtxYsu3DxHpPW8sZah5AzEpjyr_KJ_vgFT1o869EGBdI-QF6zocusW9rG6zGukFlhVbG2gdW2BBJQGNY_uqfQ8kqrpyCT_A/s1600/rock&roll.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn_I4y3vbgq8GSdm3-C-IUvem73y_KD8QaN56Gpa858I7svtxYsu3DxHpPW8sZah5AzEpjyr_KJ_vgFT1o869EGBdI-QF6zocusW9rG6zGukFlhVbG2gdW2BBJQGNY_uqfQ8kqrpyCT_A/s1600/rock&roll.jpg" height="400" width="387" /></a></div>
I am sick of hoarding good stuff to use later and these next two layouts are kinda evidence of that. I implored a use.all.the.tags.and.pretties philosophy. This layout combines pretties from the <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/alcott?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">Alcott add on</span></a>, including that rad stamp set. I loved adding it in and layering it over paper in the kit. The background--it is pieced together because I originally messed up. But it works. Sometimes mistakes are awesome.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpfAimT-DpBMh3V2YikKeE3teYFQpefaluLXszNqcIxzr9-Qt6U7G5qy3u_VM-grsWprrxMIdQo5DHhBj3IW_UTcHcCUAole4Tyodaulhk3uXh8BhluJdeI2_rBvdgINGxg7EkqTI_O4I/s1600/taptap.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpfAimT-DpBMh3V2YikKeE3teYFQpefaluLXszNqcIxzr9-Qt6U7G5qy3u_VM-grsWprrxMIdQo5DHhBj3IW_UTcHcCUAole4Tyodaulhk3uXh8BhluJdeI2_rBvdgINGxg7EkqTI_O4I/s1600/taptap.jpg" height="400" width="390" /></a></div>
This last layout uses mainly <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/dickinson?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">Dickinson</span></a> and is tag crazy. Normally I would save a tags back for a different project, but why? Because by the time I get to that "other project" I have either A. lost the tag or embellishment I was saving for it or B. I have another kit coming and the focused gets shifted to that month's projects. No more! Use all the tags! Here is the layout where, once I wiped off the mist from the spray ink on the wood tag, I ran some yarn through it to create the "xo". I love an oversized alpha and those gold letters are awesome.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjpavRRxJq9f03I_u8mCJAEe38AnLhW_TFHgAfhL_XV9Vj4kKtk-xb-c0qYfmtQ3NPPvnEogJmSOAbx-LDkEoA7_7KlJCMMLpCNkb1uMrYCAacHq-iqTtaRla_f6ystvRvm3HX8Ks5EU4/s1600/%23pause.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjpavRRxJq9f03I_u8mCJAEe38AnLhW_TFHgAfhL_XV9Vj4kKtk-xb-c0qYfmtQ3NPPvnEogJmSOAbx-LDkEoA7_7KlJCMMLpCNkb1uMrYCAacHq-iqTtaRla_f6ystvRvm3HX8Ks5EU4/s1600/%23pause.jpg" height="387" width="400" /></a></div>
So there you have it--September's gallery is in the books. <br />
And this <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/cactus-stamp?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">cactus stamp set</span></a>. Cactuses (or Cacti) are all the rage and rightfully so. But this stamp set. I mean. I've kept a cactus alive since MAY, which is like a record for me. I need to document that amazement with this stamp set.<br />

<br />
And with all this fun scrapbooking goodness...I wanna go scrap all the things! But homeschooling is calling :) Enjoy your day!<br />

I'm feeling fall. The weather for the last few weeks has been at or near 100. Not complaining-- we have had a pretty great summer, weather-wise. But as September approaches and football season begins (yay!), I start scoping out the aisles for anything fall-ish or pumpkin flavored. And I start dreaming of skinnies and hats and oversized sweaters. Today, for one very brief moment, I threw on some booties. I'm not ready for summer to be over quite yet, but it doesn't stop me from pinning some fall fashion and autumn ideas on my <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/lexibridges/"><span style="color: #999999;">pinterest boards</span></a>. You craving fall yet?Lexihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01612738232939804142noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113673255408843947.post-38163283464092368962014-08-26T10:31:00.003-05:002014-08-26T10:31:42.888-05:00Studio Calcio sneaks//September edition <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/sneak-peek"><span style="color: #999999;">Studio Calico September kits</span></a> go up tomorrow (what?!) and I am giving you fair warning: <span style="background-color: white; color: #8f8b89; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; text-align: left;">get prepared for this kit. like, start clearing the scrap space. saving the pennies. doing fast finger exercises. and then set aside some time for when this good stuff arrives.</span><br />

If only I had more time! Then there would be way more than 5 sneaks to show you. I'm not sure Poet Society bumps out Copper Mountain as my fave kit for the year so far, but it is certainly up there. Number 2 for sure. In any case, here are my sneak peeks. Remember---kits go live tomorrow at noon for subscribers and at midnight for everyone else :)<br />
These first two are main only:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I mentioned yesterday I am in the throws of setting up our schoolroom and ordering curriculum for the coming year. One thing I don't have to think much on is the art portion. We all three love anything art or crafty related. I dug out a few of the books I've had for awhile, but never really had lots of extra time for, and then we added in three more. Will we get through all 5? No way. We will have fun trying? Absolutely :) I can't pick a favorite, but I was super pumped over the 50 cent nature craft book. It was a fun thrift store find. It is divided into seasons and I think has some ideas we might want to try to create as Christmas gifts. And of course, there is my overflowing pinterest board of crafts. As my 6 year old little guy said, "can we just do craft school this year?" That boy...speaking my language.Lexihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01612738232939804142noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113673255408843947.post-9351461003348603652014-07-29T13:47:00.004-05:002014-07-29T13:47:47.648-05:00homeschool prep<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Kinda the only thing organized right now for our homeschool room is this old tool caddy turned writing/coloring station. Yikes. I need to get on it! I did finish the last order of books and we have already started math. So that's a start at least.<br />
I started a<span style="color: #999999;"> <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/community/true-life-stories/topics/72074-homeschool-mama-roll-call?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">discussion on the Studio Calico board</span></a></span>....a homeschool mama (or dad) roll call of sorts. Just a message board post to get to connect with other families who homeschool and hey--we already know we have scrapbooking in common. Join in the discussion, ask a question, etc. Let's encourage each other on our homeschool journey this year!Lexihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01612738232939804142noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113673255408843947.post-45599820596092517652014-07-28T09:19:00.002-05:002014-07-28T09:19:16.939-05:00sandlot reveal<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This is main kit only. I was inspired by the stamp for this one. Such a great jumping point to scrap what you want for your kiddos. Photobooth-like strips of the boys before church one day, lots of circles and movement here...A happy little mix of crazy.</div>

This was a mix of everything, but mainly the Jet add on. I was inspired by an SC member and added the frames like a mad woman. I still have frames left over and I'll just frame everything from now on. My journaling didn't start out like that on the arrow stamps, but I liked how it ended up, abit unexpected. </div>

This was a last minute, scrap all the papers layout. I think the eclectic mix went along just fine with my thrift store topic. Can we just take a minute and gasp that his dress was 75 cents? CENTS! Score of the summer. Love those see through alphas. </div>

Several of the add ons are sold out, but this one is still available...</div>

The <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/yeah-yeah?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">Yeah Yeah add on</span></a> (how amazing are those names?). Fun fun goodies in it, like the wood veneer titles, aqua alpha, brads, that exclusive "magic" die and the circle stamp set. Would be perfect to pair with the new <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/shop/classrooms/mini-book-mini-workshop-marcy-penner?aff=d4145a2d"><span style="color: #999999;">mini book mini workshop class</span></a>. </div>
