Penny Arcade reveal

It's reveal time at Studio Calico. July's kit, Penny Arcade, is up and kits are flying out the door! This was the first time I had scrapped in MONTHS. It was a good month to come back :)
These first two layouts are using only the main scrapbook kit:

The first one kinda cracked me up. I mean, who scrapbooks a piƱata? Me. Apparently I do. I just saw the tissue paper fringe and thought "Pedro! He must be scrapped!" So I did. The clouds were a fun theme in the second one. That boy of mine climbing that wicked scary looking thing up high at the City Museum... trying to give his mama a panic attack.
These next layouts use a combo of the main kit and the add ons, Skeeball, Fortune Teller, and Spun Sugar. How fun are those names?
The sweet conversation of this little guy...melted my heart. Had to get it down with a photo. This photo isn't from that day, but it works. Loved using all the numbers here, even the negative space from the number stickers. And just so you know I found that rogue wood veneer number 9. It had ran away when I was gluing all this down, but I found it today. Go figure.

This photo was special to me and, I'll be completely honest, this layout did not turn out in reality how it looked in my head. I think you just have to admit that sometimes and move on. So let's.
Has the sun ray thing been overdone? Maybe. I don't know. But I still dig it so here it is again with a variation of sewing and patterned paper thrown in for good measure. The cut up gold doily makes for a perfect sun. The journaling is from an Avett Brothers song which is just perfection in my book.
This was FUN. It was a last minute, midnight scrap session and I wanted to watercolor ALL THE PINEAPPLES. So I did. I'll have a little step by step on it next week. SO easy. Wowza--pineapple whip has me all excited. Look at all those capitals!
So that's my July gallery. You should check out the other creative team members because they are amazing and bring it every. single. month. Inspiration overload I tell you. Check it all out here.
