watercolor fun & thankfulness

Today I have a fun little tutorial up on the October Afternoon blog using two of my favorites:
You can check the full post here. I made this simple card for a friend's baby shower using a cut from my cameo and watercolors. Sweet & simple. I really need to work on my sentiment skills.
Today it is a little steamy out. In fact, we woke up in the night with our air conditioner not working. The first thing that I want to do is complain, ya know, because it is stinking hot! But then I think about the soldiers, in way more sweaty conditions that this, with pounds and pounds of gear on patrolling an area which might end up taking their life, all for the sake of freedom. All so that my children can run freely in the sprinkler. All so that I can sleep peacefully at night, even without cool air. And suddenly my hot house really isn't so bad.  I don't always have this perspective and I am certainly not trying to sound preachy, but I am really trying lately to be more intentional with my thoughts and thankfulness. SO much to be grateful for.
And with that, I think this little buckeraroo needs a popsicle ;)

Enjoy your Tuesday, everyone!

  1. OMGosh!!! I love it~ as a child growing up with Cheap entertainment; I always LOVED using water colors... even the kind that would be in the coloring books that only lasted for about one picture. You've inspired the KID in me to do something creative. Thanks for sharing "again" your wonderful talents. bb
