the first day--

So the first day of sending my oldest off to kindergarten turned out to be less traumatic than I thought. If you follow me on twitter or facebook, you already know I was the only Kindergarten momma not crying.
I kinda felt bad about that one.
I think it is because I knew he was SO ready to go combined with the fact we are doing 2 day private school and 3 days of homeschooling-- I knew I would be here with him all day today :)
Now if he had turned around with tears in his eyes as I was leaving THAT would have been a different story all together!
Yesterday, he woke up to the CHEESIEST set up--

HA hA hA ha ha! You would have thought I would have been more crafty! But no. I knew it was all kinds of crazy, but I also know in the universe that is kids, it would seem cool. So cool in fact he asked if I could just add the word "home" for today being the first day of homeschooling...it's still up ;) Someday SOON I hope to have a big chalkboard here, but for now it was cardstock and streamers. And one lonely balloon.
Sprinkle rimmed milk glasses were a HIT! Might have to do that weekly now

and off he went!

Brother had to get in on the action too :)

At school--sigh...he looks so sweet...

He also looks like his shorts are pulled up to his arm pits! Note to self--don't be THAT kid.
He marched right in and wheeled that Boba Fett backpack so proud! Little brother wanted to walk beside him the whole way
And when I picked him up from school and asked how his day was.."It was Awesome!" Couldn't ask for a better reaction than that!
Today was our first day of homeschooling. Had to make a little math motivation

He LOVES math, but isn't used to 2 lessons a day. He agrees, the "smarty pants" help make math better :D Plus, you can use them to count and sort for the 3 year old! I just took an empty cocoa container (we have been saving ALL KINDS of empty bottles and boxes for crafts so it was nice to actually use one!) some Pebbles paper and October Afternoon stickers. Easy peasy. They thought it was genius--SO EASY to please a 5 and 3 year old :)
And to top off our day--happy May Arts mail, including these lovelies...

Why am I already thinking of Christmas?! But seriously, how pretty do those look with Crate Paper's Peppermint line in the back? I am loving the snowy pom pom looking one. Makes me want to start on a December Daily right now! A little early though, yes?
Happy Tuesday to you!

  1. I would have been the non-crying mama right along side of you. Just not me, no worries girl. I love your pics, and that chalkboard is TDF. So great. Have fun with your new goodies!

  2. So glad it went well! He is so adorable. LOVE that chalkboard! So amazing! Glad the first "days" are going well. Enjoy! :)

  3. That's so true what you said about little things like your banners and sign being cool in their awesome little world. I'm glad you shared that, I think I will do something like that for mine too. Those are really some cute boys you've got there! EXCELLENT chalkboard idea.

  4. I remember the joy of the first day of school... ahh to be a kid again.
And I'm saying YES! to starting your December Daily- what a good way to bring on fall!

  5. Oh he looks so so sweet!! He's getting so big!!
And that container is awesome too-need to steal that idea!

  6. I am so happy that the first day of school went smoothly! You definitely did a great job making it special!

  7. awwwwwwww.. big changes at your house. so glad he had a great first day!

  8. He's so cute! Glad the first day went well for everyone!!

  9. Lex, I have a nearly identical pic of Ian heading of to Kgtn with Ethan trailing behind. One of my fav pics to date! Sigh. Love the Smarties container and the sprinkles on the milk glasses!

  10. I don't do anything nearly that cool on the first day of school -- we go to Sonic afterschool and get drinks during Happy Hour. LOL

  11. Why am I so behind on your blog? Bad friend award, me!! Fun pics from Avens first day, so other Moms were shedding tears eh? I wonder how I'll be...seems so far off. Sweet lil P in the pic w big bro, love it. xoxoxo amy b
